Small enough for a two‑core server. Strong enough to run the business.

Minimus runs your channels, films, series and subscribers from one light panel and as many streaming nodes as you need. It lives on your servers and grows into a million-dollar operation without changing a thing.

How it fits together

Pick a part to see where it sits in the diagram.

Built from the ground up

Minimus isn't a reskin or a fork of an older panel. We wrote the panel and the streaming engine ourselves, on a modern stack, and there's no PHP anywhere in it.

  1. Panel

Python and Django, with a documented REST API and a fast web interface. No PHP, no legacy code.

  2. Streaming engine

Our own code, written in Rust: it compiles to native machine code like C, without C's memory bugs. Each video packet is shared by every viewer of a channel instead of being copied for each one.

  3. Media pipelines

Every channel runs through a GStreamer pipeline. Sources pass through untouched by default, keeping their codecs and timing exactly as broadcast; re-encoding only happens when you ask for it.

  4. Isolation

Formats such as HLS, RTMP and SRT are unpacked in a separate helper process for each stream. A broken source restarts that one stream; everyone else keeps watching.

  5. Your server

Any Linux server from 2 vCPU. One command per server installs it, with HTTPS set up for you.

What's new in Minimus

The jobs that usually need a script, a sysadmin or another subscription come built in.

Automated

  • Failover, twice overIf a source drops, the channel switches to its backup source. If a node goes down, viewers are sent to a healthy one.
  • Load spread across nodesThe panel shares channels out across your healthy nodes. Add a node and it starts taking load.
  • Long jobs run in the backgroundImports, bulk edits and deletes, and film ingests never hold up the panel. The Background Tasks page shows each job's progress, and many can be resumed if a restart interrupts them.
  • Films copied for youUpload a film once. Minimus copies it to the nodes that serve it and checks every copy.
  • Channels that switch themselves offOn-demand channels start with their first viewer and stop after their last.
  • Backups on a scheduleBackups run when you say, to the storage you choose.
  • HTTPS that renews itselfCertificates for the panel and every node are issued and renewed automatically.

Storage and servers

  • Any S3-compatible storageKeep films, series and backups on Amazon S3, Cloudflare R2, Backblaze B2, MinIO or any other S3-compatible bucket. Keys are sealed in the database and never shown again.
  • Restore just what you needBring back one part of a backup instead of rolling back the whole panel.
  • Move servers with one tokenMigrate the whole panel to a new server, keeping every ID, password, user, package and your licence, by pasting a single token.
  • Settings without SSHEvery setting lives in the panel and applies without a restart. No config files to edit.

Included with every licence

A free EPG API keyGuide data for your channels. Claim it at epg.minimus.tv with your licence key. It works for as long as your licence does.

  • The apps your subscribers already useM3U playlists and the standard player API, so nobody has to change player.
  • Protection built inConnection limits, signed short-lived links, and blocking for restreamers, VPNs, Tor and data centres.
  • Live connectionsSee who is watching what, and from where, as it happens.

Light by design

Most streaming panels need big machines. Minimus was built on the smallest box we could find, so everything above it is headroom.

Smallest supported server2 vCPU, 4 GB of memoryNo graphics card or hardware encoder needed.
Cost of restreaming a channelAlmost no CPUStreams pass through untouched by default. Re-encoding is there when you ask for it, never by surprise.

Sending 15,000 channels to a player app0.32 s, then 0.035 sFirst request, then every request for the next minute.
Channels nobody is watchingCost nothingOn-demand channels stop with their last viewer.

Your server. Your data.

Minimus is installed on servers you control. We never see your subscribers, your content or your numbers.

Everything stays on your machines

The panel, the nodes, the database and your media all run on your own servers. Back them up to storage you choose.

The licence check never phones home

Your licence key is checked against a key built into Minimus. Activating it or running for years sends nothing to us.

No tracking

Minimus sends us no usage statistics, no subscriber details and no content.

Everything Minimus connects to

GitHub Container RegistryDownloads updates, when you run them.
Public VPN, Tor and data-centre listsKeeps the security blocklists current.
Services you set up yourselfFor example TMDB for film details, or your own S3 storage.

Not on this list: us.

We sell software. Never content.

Minimus ships empty. We don't sell, supply, host or recommend channels, streams, films or sources, and none come with the software.

You add content you have the rights to carry, and you are responsible for it and for how your users use it. We are not responsible for what our customers stream. Our licence terms say so in plain words.
